PRE-AND POST-NUPTIAL AGREEMENTS
Often when people marry they come to the marriage with property of
disproportionate value. This is frequently the case when one of
them has been married before. When entering into another relationship,
the monied spouse usually has children from the first marriage and
is thinking not only about the bad experience of the first divorce
and property split, but also of the inheritance rights of the children
from the first marriage. This is a lot of worrisome baggage to bring
into a new relationship.
A pre-nuptial agreement can be the answer. Our firm understands that this is a delicate situation. We can negotiate the terms of the agreement with your fiancee’s attorney, or both of you can come to our office together and reach an agreement through mediation.
Married couples sometimes enter into post-nuptial
agreements using the same process.
